Where do I go from here ...
... in efforts to improve? A couple of weeks ago I finally reached a personal milestone by being able to consistently hit black at 50 yds., which shortly followed my previous goal of consistently hitting black at 25 yds. I think one of the things that got me there was finally finding a hold that felt comfortable and repeatable. That and focusing better on the sights and not the target. Now I feel ready to kick it up a notch and shrink my groups. Any suggestions or just continue with what I'm doing? I started Bullseye a little over a year ago having absolutely no experience with guns. In my first attempts at shooting at a target 25 ft. away I was barely able to hit the 2'x2' backer board and some shots didn't even find that. I purchased a Range Officer at the beginning on the advice of many here and I think that was excellent advice. I still don't feel that it's holding me back. I also chose a while ago to concentrate on iron sights only. One of the most difficult things that I had to overcome was anticipating recoil. I don't claim having found a cure but I seem able to keep it at bay. Sorry if this sounds like rambling but I'm just thinking of, searching for ways to take the next step to improving.

Maybe never mind. I should've read the following post "Training Program" before posting. Looks like good advice and possibly an answer to my question.

You could come shoot the mid-winter games with me in Feb. I can show you lots of things not to do.

I always focused on eliminating my worst shots as a short-term goal. So I got rid of the 7s, then the 8s, now I'm trying to clean up the 9s.

Long time, no see beeser!
+1 on John Bickar's point--go back to the USMC workbook

and work through that.
Also, do 2 shot drills..they are great.

I would like to suggest that your next goal be consistently cleaning the short line.

Re: Where do I go from here ...
So, do you have written goals, that you refer to often? Do you have a shot plan? Do you have a shooter's diary? Do you record every shot you take in training, as well as, matches? If so, since you have confidence in your equipment, I'd say that every day, you need to do something to progress your training. After scrutinizing your diary, you should work on your weak areas, whether they be physical or mental. If you are at the point that you don't use any pasters at a match, the mental side of your shooting should be addressed.

Where do you want to go?
I had excellent coaching and shot 10m for 2-2 hour practice sessions before beginning to work exclusively at 25 yards with the shortline target. I then went to the USMC Workbook and made my way through the 22 section over a few months. When I started to shoot the 45 I made the mistake of just shooting rather than trying to run a regimented training program for it using the workbook. My results began to improve much more quickly once I began training rather than just shooting.
When my slowfire with the 22 started to drop a little, I went right back to the exercises in the workbook.
