Kano Kroil is fantastic stuff. I don't know about JB compound...I've never used it.
Don't restore or renew any barrel yourself--especially just because it's old. Is it fouled or shooting poorly? We have techniques for clearing fouling that work for these target pistols. You really don't want to use any lapping compound or abrasive in your target pistol without the direction of a really good Bullseye gunsmith.
Copper chore boy scrubbers are the most aggressive thing I would ever put in my barrel.

Re: JB compound and Kano Kroil
I've used JB bore paste and Kroil for cleaning in between shots when breaking in a match rifle barrel. The JB really isn't aggressive and really won't smooth out a pitted or rough bore. Kroil is one of the best penetrating oils on the market. It can get under fouling and help to get the barrel clean of copper or lead fouling. It is a super light, high quality oil. I've even used it to get an old music box to work. You do have to give it some time to work. So the answer is if your problem is barrel fouling, then JB and Kroil will work. If your problem is with the barrel itself, then no they won't help.

Kroil and jb work. But if you are getting consistent and persistent lead fouling. You need to look to your lube.
Kroil is the best thing I have ever found for removing wax buildup in 22 chambers.

Copper Chore Boy. I am not sure about the Chore Boy Brand but be careful of what is labeled copper scrubber. Many of these are copper plated steel. Try a magnet on yours and see. Never had a problem that I recognized using one but I only use it on the bore when I have very heavy and I mean very heavy leading for some reason.

Clarence is correct. For heavy leading, the Lewis lead removal system works, period.

Brownells also sells bronze wool. Just like steel wool but made of bronze. Works great wrapped around a brush.
