Hi, everybody! i was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice regarding the use of snap caps in .22? i was thinking about getting some to practice my grip and trigger control with my new (old) k22, but i wasn't actually sure if you couldn't just use fired brass for the same purpose, or even whether or not they would be useful for this kind of thing. thanks in advance!

cheers,
C. Bertram

Those snap caps are kinda pricey. I use a plastic wall anchor with one edge cut off so the extractor doesn't try to pull it out. The plastic anchor will buffer your firing pin and keep it from striking the face of the chamber. Bring a peice of spent brass to the hardware store and pick out the anchors that have a similar size to your brass. The ones I use are blue.

huh. hadn't thought of that. thanks! i'm using a revolver, so the extractor won't be a problem. would you say that these are actually useful or should i just stick with firing live rounds?

Dry firing is useful.

and how! i'm really glad that i picked up those snap caps at midway. i realized that i was grossly mishandling the trigger pull and managed to shrink my "groups" from all over the place to something that arguably could be called a group! i'll have to try the wall anchors once these wear out. thanks again!
