Starting point 40 S&W 180gr fmj usinging BE
Obtained a few pounds of BE which would like to try in my G23 (Wolf barrel). Can someone give me a range for or starting load for just plinking paper 10-15 yards? Just healing from shoulder replacement and would prefer a "mild" recoil. Thanks

The 1992 Hercules pamphlet gave 5.5 BE with a 180 JHP at 1150 Fps and 33000 psi. So maybe 4.0 to 4.5 to start with?

Try a few with 4.0 and see if it cycles your gun

I use 4.2 BE with the 135gr Nosler's. They are very accurate with light recoil. They work good in my M&P Shield also. All my 180gr FMJ loads are hot loads so I am no help there. I agree with Rob that 4.0 should be a great start.
