New M14-3! Empty New M14-3!

Post by Tim:H11 1/18/2016, 9:55 pm

Well I finally made a move on a S&W M14! I now have a 17-3 and a 14-3 both 6" barrels of course. The owner of the 14 just never really shot not much and took good care of it. The 17 has some sort of stain on the side plate. Looks like rust but hasn't come off yet.

I spilled a little orange juice on a pistol one time and didn't notice till the hunt was over. It took the blue right off and left a stain like that. I had to re-blue it.

Bluing is iron oxide.  Acids are the main way to reduce (chemical term) an oxide.  Fruit juices, even ones you wouldn't suspect like peaches, contain acids and are death on blue jobs.  You can almost watch it happen......

Nice. Now if you can find a Model 25 you'll be able to shoot a full 2700 with them.

This is a 45. Very accurate. True hardball. Masochist preferred. Very Happy

Nice, now you can save for a few years for a model 16 and you'll have the whole K frame group of target revolvers
