Herrett Nationals on Mark II Ruger
One of our shooters has a stls Mark II - w/ modified Vol'n grips & a very good trigger. - Nice, but it never rang my bell.
He brought it to practice Wednesday (well, most of it). It's now a 4½" Oregon Precision Arms from the frame up (ser #'d) and has Herrett National grips. - It rings my bell now. - Looks great (2 tone). -Best, in the hand, feeling Ruger I ever picked up. -
I don't care for the Herretts on a 1911, but I'll get a set for my Mark II 5½ slabside. - 2¢ - Russ

I love the Herrett Nationals grips. I have a set on my M41 5.5", my caplock, my flint lock, and I don't have a set for my Ruger MKIII yet but that'll happen eventually for sure.

I had some on my Mark III 22/45 before they offered them. I just whittled out a little corner and 1911 grips fit.

How can anyone beat a back action target flintlock?

When that flinter's mainspring failed repeatedly in the Nationals this past year .... That's how. I still won the Nationals overall but not the flint agg. New mainspring fitted, all good for next season.

It was a little off subject so I sent Tim a PM and we yacked about grips. I agree with jmdavis though. It is hard to imagine beating a target flintlock so I will concede that He wins. Quality beats quantity anytime.
