My RO improvements
Well after installing the .200 pin and fitting a new EGW Angular cut bushing these are where I'm at ......The .200 pin improved the lock-up of the gun ,Lower legs show nice even contact and the gun locks up frimly with no binding ...The new bushing while I didnt get the barrel to bushing fit as close as would have liked to I did remove .001 or a tad more of bushing to barrel slop which is better than it was stock....but the most noticeable improvement is the bushing to slide fit....with the stock bushing I could install it by hand and could feel up & down and side to side play in the bushing to slide fit......Now with the new bushing it is a nice wrench fit with absolutly no play or movement at all .....the gun cycles as normal ,the slide stop functions as normal and last shot hold open is as normal......I believe these improvement will show up on the paper........this was my first attempt at fitting a bushing ....I plan on redoing it ....to get the tolerance that I want and use what Ive learned from this to make the next one better.....I was really wanting a .001 clearance between the barrel and bushing which is still about .00025 looser than what I skilled BE smith would hold but I now have like .0015-.002 but while the gun was stock it had like .003....look forward to shooting it tommorrw and see what the paper has to say....

Re: My RO improvements
wow .......while I didnt shoot the gun rested....gun off hand (1) will shoot 9 ring @ 50 ft...slow fire and 8 ring slow fire @ 25yds......now if the nut behind the trigger would get his stuff together ......gun is now 10 ring @25yds slow fire capable.....I'dsay the bushing and pin helped...I am holding 2-3'' at 25 yds off handed....that kimber I had wouldnt do that off a rest @ 50ft....I hope to get some sand bags for tommorow.....I have 5 targets I shot with the first 2 or 3 shots in the 10 ring than I would screw up and throw the last too......which most of those where called.......

Re: My RO improvements
I've just had my Range Officer reworked by Roddy Toyota. He did much more work to it than I imagined would be nescessary:
scope, Clark base & brass deflector
new barrel bushing
new mainspring, recoil spring, & sear spring
tightening barrel lock-up
tighten frame & slide fit
mill bow-tie, cut frame saddle, & fit mainspring housing
replace sear
trigger work on other existing components
I can't believe how tight the gun is now. The slide works very easily, totally smooth, but even with a bushing wrench it is TOUGH to get the slide off. Now the trigger is really nice, and with the stock barrel off sandbags it shoots 10 shots into 1.5" at 50 yards. I can't imagine shooting well enough to blame the gun for anything. My buddy had him build a Springfield Mil Spec at the same time, the guns are basically identical in feel & performance now. If I had known when I bought the RO I would've gone the MilSpec route & saved a little money. Giving a basic gun to an excellent bullseye smith is a really high-value deal.

Roddy doesn't have a web site. You'll want to discuss what you have & need- the best thing to do is email him at toyotaroddy@juno.com
I will say that I was very happy with his work & his pricing was not bad at all. We talked about what I wanted, I handed the gun off to him at a match & he looked it over & came back with a menu of suggested work on the pistol. You just need to talk with him to see what his schedule is like & figure out what you need. He has been good with advice about reloading & maintenance on the gun- I'll certainly have him do more work for me if I ever need it.
