looking for a decent 1911 ?
A friend of mine who is not computer literate asked me which 1911 to buy and I said I would ask on here.
One with decent sights, decent trigger pull and accurate. What do you guys recommend ?

Range Officer by Springfield Armory. Awesome entry level gun. A lot of gun for the money and an excellent platform to upgrade upon down the road.

+1 on the RO. I have two of them, one as a wad gun, one as a ball gun.

If you are on a budget and cannot afford a new build I recommend the RO. They upgrade nicely. I have built several with excellent results. Frame to slide fit isn't bad and machining is pretty good. Stock with new barrel bushing, oversized slide stop pin, link and trigger job will make decent entry level pistol. With Kart will shoot awesome!

To say that Colt has been 'hit or miss' on quality (for the last 40 or so years) would be putting it mildly. Someone far more knowledgeable than me might well examine some and find a good one, I would not risk making a selection from their production.

More for the scoot and shoot crowd than Bullseye. The sights are more for combat shooting than Precision Pistol.rebs wrote:what about the new Colt competition model ?

In this thread you can get your pick of custom 45 target 1911s for not much more. https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t5413-wts-1911-target-pistols
