Ultradot Rubber Eyepiece - Worth It?
Fired up my matchdot II on my wad gun. Works great. Didn't use the lens hood the first outing, and with Bullseye, won't make that mistake again, ever.
I noticed with the Matchdot that you don't get the rear rubber eyepiece, but Ultradot sells them for $9.00. Is this a good addition to help when shooting outdoors or a waste of money.
Thanks,
Derek

Example below, just for show and tell (not my 1911)

I don't think they make an eyepiece for the 30mm. I could be wrong. That's happened once before.

I only saw 1" or the 25mm like you mentioned. Didn't know if my google-fu was weak. Looks like no eyepiece for the 30 then.
Does it help?

Do they help? Yes. A lot. Not necessarily like you were thinking. They offer a little anti-glare and offer a lot of anti-oil protection. I like a well oiled 1911. Without the eyepiece I always seem to throw oil from my hammer onto the rear lens. They do a good job of keeping the oil down. They also aid in the alignment of the pistol to reduce parallax. Just my .02 worth.

On my way to a match but search eBay for microscope eye cups. Cheap and they fit perfectly. If I remember later, I'll find it and post.

Thanks Mike & Len,
Found the eBay eye cups. About $7 shipped.
I think that should help with the oil mess and provide a small amount of other benefits. Well worth the $7.00

^^^^
This is spot on to why I use them on all three of my 1" UD's.

Re: Ultradot Rubber Eyepiece - Worth It?
My UD Micro 28mm came with a rubber eyepiece. It sits in the box. Now I think I'll try it for the antiglare function, although the range I use has a rear enclosure so glare isn't an issue there but firing in my buddie's gravel pit may be an issue.
