25 yd to 50 yd come up

Last year was my first year with the pistol. I only shot the ball gun. With a Sierra 230 FMJ over 5.0 of W231, my come up was 7 clicks on Ed Brown's version of the Bomar sight. Things have changed. I got a new S&W 41 and another 1911 for a wad gun, both now have Matchdot II's on them. I have a strong 25 yd zero for both guns at 25 yds. I'm using CCI stnd and a 200 SWC over 5 gr of W231. Any idea of a starting come up on both guns for the long line?

.22s often don't require any change. For me, my 45 with 200grswc over 4.2 gr WST is 2 clicks up on the ultra dot for 50 yd.

Congrats on earning your Distinguished Pistol Shot badge! Five clicks of up elevation should get you into the ballpark from the short line to the long line. As has been said, no clicks or just a couple should do it with the .22.

4 clicks is about standard for my 45 guns that have slide mounted dots. I usually do 1 or 2 at 50 for the 22 but if you have a dead on 25 x ring zero, you can get by without on most guns. I would be interested in this info on a 32 beneli with a wilson barrel if anyone is shooting one.

No change for a .22, 4 clicks up for a .45 with a slide mounted UD.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Although, I have not one point toward distinguished w/the ball gun. My Distinguished badge is for the rifle. It's not from lack of trying though as I shot in 4 leg matches in 11, including Perry of course. See you on the line.

I wish the NRA had some type of program for guys like me ....no nra shoots in my area...and the leagues that are offered are all on wk days in the evening so due to work I cant attend......but if i want to shoot IDPA there all over the place.....good job Frank congrates

Really? I always considered Ohio to be a hotbed of bullseye pistol shooting. In the summer, there are matches every weekend in the Cincinnati area. Canton-McKinley is a great club, too. Up north, near Camp Perry, there is a 50 yard indoor range. When I lived in Texas, I used to drive 150 miles (one-way) on a two-lane highway to shoot a 2700.

I wasnt aware of the weekend cinci matches.....I'll have to look into those....But you are correct ,there are 3 leagues that I know of but they run thru the week in the evenings . I'm a 2nd shift foreman so those are not avaible to me....I hope the cinci matches are sundays as I can do those...saturday I usaually work...2nd shift can really mess up your free time . Ive tryed to start a league at the indoor range where I shoot....Ive got 3 shooters every week ....just doesnt seem to many people are interested..now IDPA there are so many shooters matches can take from 8am till 4 in the afternoon.....8 hrs to shoot maybe 75rds of spray and pray .....crazy.....
