VVN 320 Powder for Bullseye?
I shoot lead and I am not sure VVN 320 is a great powder for Bullseye.
I loaded about 2/5 of a pound and gave the rest away to a friend and will trade #1 for a #1 of Bullseye.
My issue is while it was very clean; it was inconsistent, maybe due to temperature its been hot in the NE. It is softer than VV310 but not as accurate.
It is billed to be like WST or W231 but I think its more like W231, its cleaner at 4.2 gn than W231 but I am just not getting any accuracy under 4.5 gn.
So IMHO opinion I think WST is superior and you get nothing more from VV320 then you get from WST other than maybe the ability to load 9MM without having to worry about case pressure. I have found anything under 4.1 WST used in a 9mm is safe, just not very accurate.
I did load up some VV310 last night and its more like WST or Bullseye than VV320. It burned so clean that you could see the brass at the bottom of some cases.

Re: VVN 320 Powder for Bullseye?
I thought about that when I considered changing to N310 (which I did). But given that the price per round of that vs Bullseye is very minimal and the powder being the least expensive part of the round, I chose to convert. It was also nice when Champions Choice had it at $112 for a 4 lb canister at Perry. Not paying a haz-mat fee and shipping really took the sting out of it.bogierich wrote:Too bad VV310 is so expensive!

I think I paid $73 for a #4 wst at powder valley. I like it the best for 45acp and 38 special.
I got some vv310 in a trade and all I can say is 3.9 a little more peppy than Bullseye at 3.9 and 185gn swc.
However its amazingly clean no black sludge on the barrel hood and no powder or carbon left in the case.
I am on a quest find a nice softball round and I think I am going to try 3.6 vvn310 over a 200 gn swc.
My shoulder is bothering me and I figure running softball rounds at least on the short line is a good idea.
Rich I can let you have the 320 for the juniors FOC.

3.8 gr N310 with 200 gr LSWC's give me reliable 1.5" groups at 50 yards with my RO based wad gun. Results were obtained with Starline brass and Winchester primers.rich.tullo wrote:I think I paid $73 for a #4 wst at powder valley. I like it the best for 45acp and 38 special.

Thanks Long Line I am sure 3.8 with a Zero HPSWC will be great. I am working on short line loads and figure any load that can hold 3 inches or better help my overall scores. I have a bad should from when I raced bikes , I crashed at over 40MPH and broke my shoulder blade, leg, and fractured a vertebra . So by the time I get to my last Rapid fire if I shoot 45acp its a little tough if I shoot 3.8/3.9 Bullseye all the way through.
