B-40 Air Pistol Targets
Who makes the best air pistol (B-40) targets? The ones I'm using from Kruger do not allow for nice neat holes most of the time. They are nice heavyweight stock but wadcutter pellets and rimfire ammo tend to tear rather than punch them.

Even Kruger need a little backup. Try a cereal box backer.

With a cardboard backer, Kruger's work better than anything else.

What others have said. While expensive, Kruger is the best by a wide margin.

+1 on Kruger, heavy stock short fiber paper = nice neat holes. Still needs backer especially when the holes are right next to each other or it will tear.

American Target Co. sells both Paper and what they call Tag Board (2x the $) versions of most of their targets. The Kruger targets are more like the tag board targets but I still think the Krugers produce better holes.

Our club switched from the American Target Co. targets to the Kruger. With a cardboard backer, scoring is easy.

Without a doubt, Edlemann paper is the best. Unfortunately, I usually only find rifle 5 bull targets to be available so I print my own target on the back. You won't need a backer or any paper preparation, just clean holes! Kruger is a second-best choice with anything else being useless unless shooting one shot per target for competition, at least.

Thanks folks! At my range the targets are stapled to a cardboard form. Perhaps its not enough and I need a "tweener".

Put a piece of masking tape on the back side.

Unless shooting in a big match for the crown jewels, I do not understand the need for high tech targets.
I guess I am not that into cut-throat competition.

I wondered about that actually. Think it's worth a try.

Re: B-40 Air Pistol Targets
Unless you've tried to score 5 air pistol shots on a bull with American paper targets, you have no idea how hard it is to give the competitor an accurate score. The competitors deserve to have the score they actually shot accurately recorded. This especially is meaningful to up and coming junior shooters who may want to apply for a shooting scholarship someday.Jack H wrote:Unless shooting in a big match for the crown jewels, I do not understand the need for high tech targets.
