9mm conversion unit
I bought one that seems to be new and complete except for not having a magazine. Picked up a pair of Metalforms for it since. Did some searching around and haven't learned much other than that there weren't many of them made. It had the Series 80 parts in it, and looks like a Gold Cup slide with a collect bushing. The rear sight is not a Elliason, and I read that it is the same one Colt used on Pythons. It fits (kinda loose) on our Gold Cup bottom end....feeds and extracts fine but won't eject and we think it will need a 38/9mm slide stop along with a extended ejector in same caliber. The spring that came with it looks way long, and too many coils ...(book calls for 28 coils I think). Would also get a guide rod and spring cap for it, to make it a assembly.
Any of you folks had experience with one of these?? ...and if so what did you need to do to get it to run. What range of recoil spring weights. Can't see how it could hurt to run it on the Gold Cup (Series 70) lower as everything fits and locks up nicely. We don't need it to be a tack driver....just nice to have a couple conversion set ups. A rimfire will be next once this one is working.
All our best, and thank you;
Bill

Re: 9mm conversion unit
We have all the parts now, and would like to replace the collet bushing with angle bored EGW. Can this be done? The Colt barrel is turned down smaller about a inch behind muzzle, and has a short lead on to the larger diameter. Or maybe would be best to leave it as is......Collet fits tight to barrel and snug in slide. Seems like I've never read many good things about collet bushings.
Thanks in advance;

Angle bored bushing will work. It will need to be fit to both slide and barrel.

Thank you very much for the answer Jon. That's the one we were hoping to hear. Didn't think a solid bushing would be very happy about running over that step on the barrel.
