TRS-25...?
I'm interested in a Bushnell Trophy TRS-25. Mainly because it's cheap and affordable just to try a dot sight on the Nelson. I would really like to find a dot sight that will mount either really far back or in-between the screws that hold the rail onto the barrel. This way I can leave the dot on the rail and remove it and go back to iron sights if I wanted to. Not sure if this is possible but I want to try.
I thought the TRS was small enough to try it with. And cheap enough that if it didn't work I'd just stick it on a plinker gun in the cabinet.
Does anyone here have one? I think I saw one or some talk here about one.

They are a pretty expensive target. Save your money and buy something else you want to shoot at. Seriously.

Re: TRS-25...?
It'd be more expensive, but one ring is sufficient to hold an Ultradot on a 22, so you can mount the dot pretty far back by using only a single front ring mounted all the way back on the gun. That would be true of most any tube style scope. Any of the cheaper Aimpoint style scopes will have to be mounted using the built in mount and can only go so far back.
Re: TRS-25...?
This dot is only 20.00 more then the Bushnell and you probably won't want to shoot at it after the first week.

Re: TRS-25...?
I took this picture yesterday to show a shooting buddy the new scope I just picked up. I wanted to try one of the Holosun scopes. After getting it and comparing the size and weight and optics I was impressed enough that I think I will put it on my 52. I am just waiting for BME's site to come back up so I can order a mount. Scope on top is a 403a and the one on bottom is a Ultradot HD Micro. Both of them mount similar to the Bushnell.

Re: TRS-25...?
The old TRS-25 was pretty good. I used one on my Ruger for years, and then for half a year on my Nelson. Since then, however, it appears they've screwed around with it--or there's a ton of counterfeits making their way into the product stream.
The original had the gold/green lettering, and the emitter at the 4 o'clock position. It was a pretty decent 'dot for the money. Not as expensive as an UltraDot, but far better than the numerous $30-$40 trash 'dots on the market.
The spotty ones have larger, white lettering, and the emitter is in the 6 o'clock position. People report the dot disappears when it's in the top 1/3rd of the glass, along with other issues.

Since bullseye pistol shooters are at the top of the list of cheapskates, I'd think that if something cheaper than an UltraDot would do the job as well, over the long haul, that bullseye pistol shooters would be all over it. That being said, if it floats your boat, go sail.

My TRS won't hold zero and the dot looks like an amoeba when the brightness is turned up.
Ultradot for me.
Period.

Re: TRS-25...?
I have one that I mounted on my K-38. Its been there for several years with no problems. I bought it used and don't know how old it is. The gun only gets used with soft wadcutter loads, obviously not getting movement on a slide. I shoot this gun better than my .45.

+1 on the Primary Arms, as recommended by Len. I bought the TRS-25 first for my 22 and then a Primary Arms (the exact model referenced by Len). After comparing the sights, I moved the Bushnell to my pistol-caliber carbine toy.

The Primary ARMs is the same as the Holosun may have a better Warranty.LenV wrote:I took this picture yesterday to show a shooting buddy the new scope I just picked up.
