American Marksman "National Championships"
"TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is excited to announce that its innovative Talladega Marksmanship Park will play host to the American Marksman National Championship Jan. 6-8, 2017. This is the first year for the event, and the CMP is thrilled to be chosen as the site of its inaugural National Championship."
Interesting, sounds allot like the NRA World Shooting Championships.

Re: American Marksman "National Championships"
Ok I was just reading some of the detail:
"American Marksman is an amateur-only competition. Participants compete and advance through three levels: local, regional and national."
And when are are they going to have the local and regional events, it's 12/7, they have 4 weeks and that is over Christmas and New Years to hold the local and regional events!!
Sounds a little ambitious.

Re: American Marksman "National Championships"
I may be completely off base here but it sounds like something that my club (and probably thousands of others) got an inquiry about early last summer (looking for locations). Few specifics but it seemed to be 'run and gun' which we don't do so never heard any more. Whomever the organization is, they don't appear to be well known/established ..... yet, that could quickly change if they have a successful series of events.

I did a little more research on this and they started local events back in the summer. My guess is this is very similar to the Ruger Rim-fire events which are steel plate matches at short distances. I have shot in a couple of these and they are fun. If they don't advertise better it will never get off the ground. As Fire Escape stated if this is the same as the Ruger Rim-fire matches they are a "run and gun" type match but still fun.

Yep they have a page with local/regional qualifier pictures.
I have to agree, very poor advertisement, it's the first week of December and this is the first I've heard of this. No chance to participate, might have been fun, maybe next year.
We have a range not far from me that could have put on an awesome local or regional match.

Re: American Marksman "National Championships"
The indoor range I shot at was one of the qualifying ranges in Fl. I spent several weeks getting ready and practicing for it even bought a Ruger 10/22 for the rimfire event. After figuring out that they were going to supply the guns and ammo you had to shoot at the regional I opp'ed out. My friend that runs the range went to the regional and they shot Ruger 22/45s don't recall the rimfire rifle and they also did centerfire rifle and pistol. At my age when I have to get down and shoot prone I might not be getting back up. Don
