Ramp on 9mm Springfield Range Officer Empty Ramp on 9mm Springfield Range Officer

Post by Virgil Kane Tue Feb 14, 2017 10:03 am

Just a quick question.  Does the Range Officer 9mm have a Wilson/Nowlin ramped barrel from the factory?  I don't have one available to check for myself

Been thinking about making a 38 Super out of the 9mm RO and was wondering what type of barrel I would need.

Thanks
Virgil

Just another FYI. I asked earlier if anyone on the forum had tried the SIG 38 super barrel. Getting no response and being of the enquiring mind kind of guy I picked one up on E-bay for nothing. I know you get what you pay for but I had to give it a try. Dropped in nicely but ordered a match bushing to fit barrel. As soon as that gets here I plan on taking it to the range. Only mentioned it because as cheap as these barrels are its a pretty painless way to convert your RO to a super.

WOW lots cheaper than getting a Kart.  Let us know how it shoots when you get the bushing.

Wow, yep that's lower. I wonder if they had a huge over-run. How do they make and sell them for that?

I ordered one of those barrels from CDNN for $40 and I am not even sure I have a 1911 it will fit in.  Always wanted a 38 Super and if i don't have a frame I will just have to order one.  Don

Even with $9 shipping it's 1/4 the price of a Kart.  Wonder how these shoot?

They might do great in a barrel test fixture (or not).  But unless they are made oversize in the areas that require fitting, they won't produce a gun more accurate than any other drop-in barrel.

I'd love to hear how well it fits your RO, I'm itching to try .38 super. I'm not having any luck getting 9x19 accurate at lower velocity and understand 38 super with the right twist might be easier to get working? wonder what twist the Sig barrel has?

They both appear to be the same. 1:16. Eyeball only measurement.
