S&W Model 52-2
What are the options for mounting a red dot on this gun? I suspect I could have the slide milled like I did on my RO. Is it possible to get a read sight for this gun. I am bidding on one that has the rear site missing and not in pristine shape, a few scratches and a dot of rust but still suspect it will shoot just fine. If I can get it for less then $750 I will take it. All the other 52-2 with box and mags and tool are going for $2,000. I don't want one that bad. Don

One of the guys here found a no-smith required mount for his Model 52. I'll call him and find out where he got it. It locks into the bottom of the frame and works just like it was drilled and tapped.
This is the website for the mount. Just scroll down to S&W52-BWR. It mounts like you would barrel weights on the gun.

BME Mounts

I use one on my M52 with an Ultradot. Replaces the rear sight.
The slide may be too thin to drill and tap for a mount and I don't particularly like frame mounts.

Thanks to both of you there are a few options there. I just remembered I have 3 different mounts that fit into the rear dove tail. Don

Yes I did have not looked at it yet I just finished watching the Masters. This one comes with two 5 rounders but extras couldn't hurt in case thge last owner tweaked these. Thanks
BTW I put one of those Halo Suns on my new camo 9mm Hi Point carbine. I like it so far. I had it on the high mount but it places it to high above the bore and as I was setting it up for home defense It was sighted dead on at 10yds but then was really high at 25 if I was just shooting it for fun. Re: S&W Model 52-2
Funny you should mention the Masters. I put the DVR on pause while waiting for some time to build and came here to catch up. Back to Model 52's. I have been thinking about them again since you have been searching for one and it reminded me yet again that the 52 sort of reflects our sport. First it was self defense/ law enforcement pistol. Then it evolved to a dedicated BE pistol. That went away for awhile and came back as a very expensive dedicated BE pistol. Then they went the way of the Dodo. All we have left from the original Model 39 are self defense and Law enforcement models. Nice ones, but I don't know if they are better. I still carry my 39. Bullseye also seems to have gone full circle. Just my opinion.

This is the one I have for my S&W 52-1. The scope does sit up kinda high, but it is a well-made mount. It's the gun in the middle:cdrt wrote:One of the guys here found a no-smith required mount for his Model 52. I'll call him and find out where he got it. Re: S&W Model 52-2
I used an EGW mount and the new model 2.5 minute Leupold Delta Point. So far, so good-dot is easy to see, no flare issues, easy adjustments, and easy on/off. Didn't have to change springs either-no issues with reliability. Almost forgot, no issues with weight either; actually added a third party barrel weight. Works great for me. Ymmv.
