Nelson magazine holder
Some of you may have heard me whine about not being able to attach the plastic Nelson magazine to my magnetic bar in my range box. Well, I have come up with an inexpensive solution. I am using yard tool spring clip holders. Specifically, the Crawford Small Grip Clip, item 13200, which holds 3/8" to 5/8" diameter tools. I measured the thickness of a Nelson mag and it measured 1/2", which fell right in the middle of the range of these clips, so I bought a package. When they arrived, I found it easy to insert and remove the mag from the clip so I installed them in my range box. For each clip, I drilled a hole through my magnetic bar and range box lid. A single bolt and nut holds each clip.
I find I have to use two hands to insert a mag, one to hold the box so it doesn't tip over and the other to insert the mag into the clip. Removing the mag with one hand is a breeze. Just grab the base of the mag and swing upward. The mag comes out easily. For my range box, as long as the mag is below the top of the magnetic bar (as seen in the photos), the range box's lid closes without an issue.
Like other magazines, one long edge of the mag is flat while the other is rounded. It is the rounded edge you want to insert into the clip. If you insert the flat edge, the mag will get hung up in the clip and can be difficult to remove.

Nice idea I just didn't want to drill holes in my decals on the front of my box. That would put all the holes right in my Volquartsen decal and I can't have that. Don

I went with a different approach.
Just a couple of cheap bungee cords and a couple moments of time.
