Walther/Hammerli Xesse/ S&W Model 41
First topic message reminder :
Hello, as I am new and have tried many searches on here and else ware, I am looking for advise on buying a new pistol in 22lr. I have been looking at the Hammeril Xesse. I do not shot in any completion, just for fun and want a better gun. All I can find to are the bad opinions from some. Like, the trigger guard is plastic or maybe cast that breaks, the rear sight will not hold as the slide knocks it off target, the barrel will come loose if it gets to hot. So I don't know if this the gun for me or not. Presently I shoot a Ruger Mark lll 22/45, and Walther GSP. As I am getting older the GSP is getting a little heavy. So I am looking for something accurate and light. Thanks for any help, I am trying to keep this pistol at $1000.

I've always heard CCI SV is the way to go. I use that and Eley Club. Very reliable. I've actually never had an alibi with the 41.

The standard velocity ammo are the ones I am having problems with. The high velocity have no problem.

Might want to try a 6.5 lb recoil spring. Mine was used and came with a buffer. It ran great when I got it so I use a buffer.7tcu wrote:The standard velocity ammo are the ones I am having problems with. The high velocity have no problem.

So far a drop of oil on the first round works, I expect the problems to go away after the gun wears in from shooting a lot of rounds. As I said earlier tight chamber. Thanks for the suggestions I will ry some of them if this keeps up. Most of the people who had this problem write that it goes away after a lot of shooting.

Hello 7tcu. I'd like to invite you to head north to the Bayou Rifles 2700 held each 4th Sunday. On Eldridge near I-10. You can shoot 22 all day if you want. Several shooters do. It's a good mix of Marksmen-Expert normally and everyone is super friendly and helpful. I come form College Station when I can.

I think you are talking about the Bayou Rifles Addicks range.

I know this thread is a few months old but I was about to ask the same question with the exception that I want to shoot bullseye competition in the future. I'm building a range for 50 yard rimfire benchrest so I might as well get a competition pistol too. A lot of league s in my area but I think they shoot two caliber s 22 and 38.

Keep a .25cal brass brush handy to maintain a clean chamber.

Re: Walther/Hammerli Xesse/ S&W Model 41
I just got back from the range after a 2 month delay from jury duty, and I still shoot the GSP better than the 41 but I am going to keep trying with the 41. My Xesse has been with a gunsmith to repair the ejector, I should get it back Monday. I am starting to look for another pistol, that jury duty was on a Federal case and they pay $40.00 a day plus milage for the first 10 days then it goes to $50.00 after that. So I have a few checks to deposit burning a hole in my pocket. All these pistols a really nice, good luck with your choice.

I have found a few GSP for sale and most less than the 41's but it seems on this site the model 41 is the pistol to purchase.7tcu , I'm a Past Master 1991 and you can probably figure out my user name twobe1
