Distinguished loads - Primers for loads Empty Primers for loads

I purchased 1,000 cases of starline 45 brass and will purchase Nosler 185 jhp for the long line. What primers are everyone using for their loads?

I use CCI or WW.  But all work about the same.

I normally use the blue box of Winchester. Just didn't know if those were as good as cci

I use CCI and Sellier & Bellot. I notice no difference between them in terms of accuracy. But in my revolver, S&B will work in double-action where CCI won't (harder cup). Use what you have/can find.

Been a Winchester user for a very long time with no issues using their primers in pistol, rifle and shotgun.
Do use CCI small pistol for the 9mm with no issues.
Only issues I have ever had was a LOT# of CCI large pistol for the .45 and they were oversized and had one hell of a time getting them seated into the pocket(used them up in some practice ammo just to get rid of them).

So you think that the blue box of Winchester will be just as consistent as CCI?

My only experience with Federal primers is #210M(large rifle) for when I was shooting .308 for benchrest and F-class 500yd mid range.
Never used them for any pistol loads.

I used Federals for years, Winchester for the past several years.  All were good.  Federals have the reputation of being the softest (easiest to fire), so the revolver guys with lightened hammer springs tend to like them.

What are the benefits of zero bullets? Other than price

Winchester makes only one large pistol primer, I was told by the Winchester Rep at Camp Perry in the early 90s their large pistol primers are 8% hotter than all the other standard primers on the market. I owned a Ransom Rest till a few years ago and found Winchester primers to give me the best results at 50 yards. My pet 50 yard load is once fired Federal or Winchester brass, 185 Nosler HP, 5.0 WST, Winchester large pistol primer, 1.24 OAL. I tried every powder in the 45 and found WST to be the best. When I sold the Ransom Rest the 1911 inserts were in need of replacing, that is how much testing I did in 25 years. In the early 90s there was a primer shortage, at the time I used Federal, Tried Winchester and never looked back.

I do use Federal for my revolver for that very reason. For my 1911's I prefer the CCI. I didn't have performance issues with Winchester, but occasionally would have a flipped primer in the tube and tight fits in some brass. I have none of these with the CCI so stick with those.

Alcan is definitely back in the day, shot a bunch of those.
