Gunsmith in Houston to drill/tap Clark slide mount?
I want to get my LB 1911 45 drilled/tapped for a Clark slide mount for a Matchdot II. A simple job, but I just don't have the courage to do it on this gun myself.
Can someone recommend a gunsmith in Houston, TX they have done business with and trust?

fpk, Just an FYI. You can send just the slide anywhere in the country without an FFL as long as you don't send the lower half. That should open up your search area a bunch. Great Smiths on this forum that could do it for you.

Unfortunately it is my only centerfire/45, so was hoping to avoid extra time shipping it around... need to practice (a lot) and monthly match coming up on 25th. Although if someone has time to fit it in in the next 2 weeks, that would be fantastic!LenV wrote:fpk, Just an FYI. Then you probably want to give Lohman's a call. Only bad reviews they have ever got are about waiting for powder or ammo. They are in NW area out on 290.

If you're willing to drive to Conroe, try Brendan McGloin at Saddle River Range (http://www.saddleriverrange.com/). He's a retired military Bullseye smith and does great work.
