Nelson Conversion on a Les Baer
I'm waiting on a call back from Nelson but in the mean time--does anyone have any first-hand experience with fitting a Nelson 22 conversion unit to a Les Baer pistol? Mine is a Premier II. I tried a Marvel Conversion on a different Les Baer some years ago but it wouldn't work. It may have had something to do with the disconnector, but I didn't pursue it at the time.

It fit mine but with Les Baer pistols they're all hand fit so there's no guarantees they'll fit all them. I actually use the conversion on a modified Sig lower but I tested it on my LB since I was curious. I can't see where the disconnector would be an issues, they should all be in a standard location. If anything the rail spacing/size would be your issue, possibly the ejector.

I've had my Nelson on a Les Baer Premier II lower for 2 years no problems. Had a marvel on it before that, again no issues.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still waiting for a call back or reply to email. Sounds like they're a pretty busy operation. I'll probably just go ahead and order one.

Re: Nelson Conversion on a Les Baer
The Nelson conversion is worth every penny. I can't say anything about the wait period, as I bought mine used (lightly used) and it was shipped right away.
The Nelson should slide right on to any 1911 (in 45) with out any fitting. However you may find that a lighter hammer spring may be needed for reliable function. Depends on what the maker of the 45 used for poundage. And depending on ammunition a lighter recoil spring from Nelson may also be of some benefit. Possibly for the slower Velocity stuff. I love mine and won't ever part with it. In fact I have two barrels. One with the iron sight rib, and one with a dot mounted to it. This way I can switch from irons to dot or back if I wish and I do not lose zero on either rig. If you liked the Marvel at all you'll love the Nelson.
Good luck!

Works great ... I have a Nelson Conversion on my Les Baer wadcutter receiver, trigger a just over 2 lbs. Use it for rimfire portion of 2700's. Also, have threaded barrel with weight and use that configuration for action pistol

I also run a Nelson on my LB Thunder Ranch Special.
No problems at all. Nelson kit is a high quality unit and simple to install/change quickly.
Highly recommended
