I am switching all my optics to 30mm so when I raise a gun the picture all looks familiar. The lowest ring of good quality after a short search was Leupolds new PRW rings. These have the square bar that fits securely into the rail slots and seem to be very low to the rail. ( they offer three heights)
Installing the second set I overtorqued the small "claw Keeper" and it snapped.
I called Leupold customer service and bingo, in the mail came a few replacement keepers.
Great customer service in my humble opinion.
Thank you

I will take a look at them.  I been switching all my mounts to low mounts.  Been using the cheap B-Square mounts from Amazon less then $10 a set.  They been doing fine even on my 45.  Don

So is the "claw" aluminum or steel? I switched all my pistols to Aimpoint 9000SC's but have had issues with the included rings. On my 22 conversion I was able to use steel Warne rings since the conversion was lighter than my 45's. On the 45's I'd like to transition into some new aluminum rings but I want the threaded end to be steel but the actual ring to be aluminum, that way I get the benefit of being able to tighten it nicely to the rail without stripping but without the weight of full steel rings.

The entire ring and keeper are CNC machined steel.

I liked the square lug and the height.
