Rock River Arms Bullseye Rib / rear sight cut filler
Im looking to add this to a SA Range Officer. This way it can serve double duty in that I can use the irons for my police league(irons only) with the capability of mounting a red dot, since I am actually staring to do a real matches this summer!!
My major concern with the RRA mount and any other mount, such as Clark, is that the Range Officer already has a target style rear sight cut out, which obviously means there is a considerable amount of material removed at the rear of the slide, and causing what I would think there to be a large gap. I cannot find any images of any 1911 with RRA rib sight that would solve my questions/concerns. Is there some sort of filler piece to make the the rear sight of the rib more stable. Or would the contour of the sight rib cover up the gap?
Any advice or similar experiences with adding sight ribs(bo-mars too) are appreciated

I don't think the gap would hinder the rib mounting but you could fill the void with a slide racker. Have to ensure the cuts match (I think the SA is the same as a low mount Bomar) - at the most the slide might require some very minor machining.

I'm not sure if you intend to shoot open sights with the scope mount attached to the gun?? The RRA mount won't do that.
here's a photo of the Rock River Mount I'm used to :
it's the top photo.

The mount I am talking about, called the rra bullseye rib, is basically a bo-mar rib sight that has slots for scope rings. Its on the rra website

That rail is cool!
You don't need to fill anything in where your factory sight was. I only have 3 screws on my rail in appx the same place where the screws on that rail are.
Use a little blue locktite. My rail only comes loose when I loosen it.

I also like the looks of that rail. The hole pattern looks like the same as for a Clark rail. Add a set of good rings that hold zero, and I don't mean the vertical split UD ones, and you would have a neat set up. You would probably want to use stronger recoil spring with the scope off.
