Vintage box with a cool mount
A gentleman that knew I was shooting precision pistol gave me this original Pachmyer box today. I intend to place my iron sight guns in it.
Can anyone identify this mount ?
Or possibly the original owner was tool maker, it has a bronze collet with a ball ended thumbscrew to tighten it. I am thinking some sort of pole with an adjustable mount ?

Looks like you could put your brass catcher in there

Appears to be a well crafted shop built mount. I've seen one similar mount at Perry with knurled knobs that the shooter built in their home machine shop.

Pretty sure that is shop made. Nicely done too.

This mount has a goofy size in the collet .787"
So no matter what I tried nothing came close to fitting, pipe, tube, rod.
So I was in the shop fitting a new NG scope to a new indoor box and for grins I took the tube mount out of the package and by God it fits and is telescopic !

OK, so now the next question for you experienced shooters. Why did they install this false wall in the lower section of this box ?
There is no rear door for access.
It is really making things cramped . Can I just knock it out without ruining all the covering ?

A relatively safe spot for the scope to sleep in front & a place to accumulate "essentials" in the back?
