Post by chopper Wed Nov 29, 2017 12:46 pm

Hope this post goes through, I quick reply to others post and I've had 2 of my replies not get posted this morning. So what's the difference between using the quick reply at bottom of the page and clicking on the reply button and posting a reply in someones post?

post a reply vs quick reply Empty The Difference

Post by Guest Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:49 pm

Post a Reply gives you more options than Quick Reply.

Using Post a Reply you can:

  • Change the Title
  • Create lists and ordered lists
  • Insert a table
  • Inset Dailymotion video
  • Insert Flash
  • Vary the amount of available buttons
  • Superscript and subscript
  • Insert horizontal and vertical scrolling
  • Generate random numbers
  • Attach files
  • Disable/enable HTML
  • Disable/enable BB Code
  • Disable/enable Smileys
  • and choose to be notified when a reply is posted

Basically it's a more robust editor. For simple replies Quick Reply is just fine.

If you post at the same time someone else post you will get a message to that fact and you have to pick the SAVE button  other wise your post will not show up.  I have had this problem a lot as I click on something else before being sure it posted..When I have typed in a long reply and it has to be retyped that sucks.  Don

Okay here goes, Bob I've used a Chromebook (Acer) for about a year now and a Samsung for about 5-6 yrs now. My browser is google chrome.
I didn't know the difference until Wile E Coyote explaned all the stuff you can do with post reply.
Don, I did get a message about that time, is that save button the same as the draft button after you preview your reply?

The Save just works like a send as far as I can tell.  I would guess that it saves till it is able to post it.  Don

This has tripped me up more times than I care to cop to.
Is it really necessary or beneficial to have both. Even after reading everybody's responses it screwed mu e up again.

I have typed some long replies only to not have them post because I was to quick on the trigger.  I just have to be careful and watch what it says when I hit send.   There is also a key on my keyboard that deletes everything I have typed and I have to start over.  it is some where on the lower left corner of the keyboard because it happens when I get lazy and let the left hand rest on the keys.  One would never guess I did this stuff for a living for 30+ years.  Don

Don:
I've had the same problem. More than once or twice on that one too. It will also happen if you get in a hurry and hit the cursor screen when the cursor is in the "type your message" area.

Lost post?? check your DRAFTS, it just might be there.
Sometimes if you think you have lost a post go into your profile and look in DRAFTS, I have had a couple of long posts disappear before I was done and found them in there.  I did not save them to draft either they just ended up there.
