Repair frame mount holes. Empty Repair frame mount holes.

I've acquired a stainless 1911 that been drilled and tapped for a Weigland frame mount. Five holes down each side of the dust cover. I'm thinking of using red locktite to glue in stainless steel screws and then cutting them of and finishing them down flush to the surface. The frame could then be polished out on the flat sides, bead blasted back to it's original finish. or CeraKoted.

Any better ideas?

Jim

Get it welded by a good competent welder.  If you wait while he does it, you don’t have to go to a FFL licensee.

I was wondering about welding. Is this do-able on stainless that's this thin?

I had a friend who worked for Lincoln Electric.  He says they had demo welders who could weld a chewing gum wrapper.  So yes, it can be done.  But probably not the average hack.

sure,   Tig or  Micro welding.

I'd find someone familiar with doing guns and was careful about warpage.
