Forum “flood control”
I am sure many of you agree this is the ONLY bad thing about this forum.
90 seconds is like forever in Internet time. My understanding is that the default time for phpBB is only 15 seconds, so 90 seems pretty excessive and I am sure many of you have banged submit buttons over and over in frustration trying to correct a simple error before someone quotes you or reads the post.
It can be modified fairly easily to a different time limit and fully disabled for validated users. I pulled a couple of posts off the Interwebz to give some hints for our admin Rob.
And yes, even going back to edit this post I have run up against it again.....grrrrrr.

Admin cp >> General tab >> in the left bar under Board configuration click post settings >> There you can change the Flood interval in seconds.
ACP>>General>>Board Configuration>>Post Settings
Flood interval:Set this to 10 or whatever interval is appropriate
You can't set different flood intervals for different groups without a MOD, but you can enable flood control for Newly registered users and disable it for everybody else using the Can ignore flood limit permission.
However, if you have spammers posting dozens of times, maybe you should use the Newly registered users group to place all posts in the moderation queue. Just setting a limit of one will catch all of their posts until they've gotten one approved.
And yes, even going back to edit this post I have run up against it again.....grrrrrr.

I agree. Like being left unzipped for 90 seconds.

I can't seem to get spelling, grammar and capitalization all correct the first time I post a comment.

Get lastpass or a similar pwd manager and never worry about being logged out. 2 clicks and I am logged back in with a much more secure pwd.

Is your 90 sec up? Now go back and edit your spelling.

Re: Forum “flood control”
This morning was typical for me. I needed to edit my post (I blame it on the lack of a second cup of coffee) and had to wait the 90 sec. It did give me some time to think of something else to edit though!

That function sometimes turns itself ON without my doing.
I just gave Wil admin permissions in the system. His knowledge with this forum platform is going to be very helpful!

I don't understand what phpBB is or flooding or what a pwd manager is. Does it have anything to do with losing a reply?

Re: Forum “flood control”
I don’t know how old that documentation was, but currently the Flood Control setting was listed under General>Security>Security Admin>Flood Control
It is now set to 15 seconds.
Let’s test it out.
-update- It worked for me. WooHoo! You guys have a good time now and don’t forget to use that preview button every now and again.

It bothered me too the way it was, but since I was waiting anyway, it gave me more time to find the mistakes I hadn't yet noticed.
Are we busy enough to really need to control floods?

Hey folks, I didn't put any limit on how long you can choose to wait.
My goal was to make everyone on this forum a better shooter by freeing up 75 seconds for working on dry fire.
