Longer Trigger for Ruger Mk3 22/45...
Hey all!
I shoot the pistol listed above, with Herrett Nationals grips and a Volquartsen drop in trigger kit. I've been playing with my grip a bit, and found a position I really like, that gives great natural sight alignment. The problem is that the trigger feels too short. It feels like my trigger finger is hanging way out to the side, and is uncomfortable, if that makes sense.
What are my options for lengthening the Trigger? A trigger shoe of some sort that's really thick? Maybe even getting a button head screw to replace the over travel set screw, grind down to size, and pull on the button head? Just from a cost perspective, I'd like to stay with the current trigger. I figure there's got to be a simple solution.
Thanks all!
Dave

You could try JB Weld and build up the front of the trigger.

These guys at t-grips sell aluminum trigger shoes that may be useful as a spacer: http://www.t-grips.com/TriggerShoeHomepage1.htm
I've never used them, so YMMV. Also, it seems the Ruger trigger shoes listed are for the MKI and MKII. I've only used the MKII, so the difference/variation in the MKIII and 22/45 may be significant.
Whittling a spacer from wood to try that can be glued in place may be a good first approach. They also (used to?) sell a modeling clay at hobby stores that hardens in the oven which is shapeable (before heating). It was used mostly for grips, but cured hard enough to try on a trigger.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both may work. I picked up a couple of button head screws the same thread as the over travel screw in varying lengths. That seems an easy thing to try. Not sure how the screw head will feel though...
