S&W M41 trigger weight dropped under 2lbs after cleaning
Admittedly it was pretty filthy...... Is this a thing that can happen? it was about 2.25 lbs before I detail stripped it. The only thing I changed was recoil spring and firing pin spring. That trigger pin is a nightmare to get out, I'm hoping somebody has a way around adjusting the weight at the trigger.

You have the stepped trigger pull lever in the right place?
It slides back & forth to adjust tension on one spring & is accessed from the top of the frame.

As you're looking down the pistol to the muzzle. Long leg on the right side of sear so when you push the sear into position to be held by the trigger bar there is tension against it.

Thats exactly the problem. The pics i was following on the internet had the pistol "upside down" for the that step. You saved yourself an SOS phone call, thanks KCkc.crawford.7 wrote:As you're looking down the pistol to the muzzle. Re: S&W M41 trigger weight dropped under 2lbs after cleaning
I was tinkering with my 41 last night and adjusted the trigger pull using the trigger return spring that S&W describes (partially punch out pin and slide the indexed lever). I also noticed that straight up moly (molybdenum disulfide) on the hammer/sear provided a lighter pull than TW25 grease. Maybe that's not a revelation, but still.
It seems to me the 41 could benefit from Wolff type springs of varying force for the trigger return and sear springs for tuning the trigger. From what I can tell, no one makes them. Although, they aren't complicated torsion springs. There may not be enough of a market for a company, such as Wolff, to make 41 springs. That was (is) one of the features of the High Standard Victor/Citation, etc in that a screw allowed changing the sear spring force.
