Does it have the negative magnification problem resolved?

When you look through the optic the target appears smaller than it would if you were looking right at it without looking through anything at all. .... I think....

I'd also like to see negative magnification quantified.

Re: NEW SIMPLE ULTRADOT
I just returned two ultradot 1" due to the negative magnification issues.

I don't use the Ultradot's normally, but I do have a Matchdot . It's too heavy for me, but compared to other dot sights I never noticed the target looking real small (like looking in the wrong end of a scope)?

Odd that I have never been bothered by or seen this negative magnification. I have at least 16-18 Ultradots. (I'd have to inventory to be sure.) Never see a problem. The UD are age from early 1" to MDII

Re: NEW SIMPLE ULTRADOT
Kind of a mystery to me that there are negative connotations about the magnification being reduced. These are not reading glasses. You are not reading the print at the bottom of the target. You are aiming at a big ass black dot!
I have several UD, MD, and MDII and have never noticed or cared about the magnification changes. Is it really so extreme that you can’t shoot or is this just Internet rumor run rampant?
“Have you heard about those UD’s, you know they reduce magnification don’t you?”
“OMG, really? No wonder I shoot a 35 in Slow Fire!”
Reality: Less magnification = less jitter.
Where is all the “We need more magnification for Bullseye shooting” crowd? Oh that's right. There isn’t one.
All in good fun, but it does make you wonder...

Re: NEW SIMPLE ULTRADOT
There really is some image reduction on about half of my Ultradots. All of the Oakshore ones are perfect and some of the older 1" and 30mm but the newer ones have maybe a 5% image reduction. Easy to see just by waving the pistol across the target and keep focus on the target. I have a different presciption for each eye so my brain is used to ignoring different sized objects and just making the picture come in focus. I suspect that shooters that close their non shooting eye would also have no problem. But the ones with perfect eyes that shoot with both eyes open would see one target slightly smaller in the eye looking thru the dot. I have never sent one back because it reduces the image. I don't even notice it unless I am trying to find it. I did a test about a year back and posted the results here about different Ultradots and other models. Can I find the report using the search function? Nope. But it is here somewhere...

I've got a bunch of them too. I think every one has negative magnification. I never even noticed it until everyone started talking about it. It doesn't bother me in the least. My Sightron S30 has no problems that way. I don't keep them all in the center with that either!

Probably the wrong term - image reduction is a better description.

Because you asked and because I was bored. Not that this formula means anything to this discussion. I just like it because it has my name.james r chapman wrote:I'd also like to see negative magnification quantified.

Re: NEW SIMPLE ULTRADOT
I noticed (on another forum) that this was aimed at us bullseye shooters. However, it does not have the elevating adjusting turret. Which in my mind is less shooter friendly.

Len, that's the same reason I used to buy a wood chisel and a couple a wood planes years ago.

Then it's a good thing you weren't looking at old motor cars. "Stanley Steamer Motor Coach"chopper wrote:Len, that's the same reason I used to buy a wood chisel and a couple a wood planes years ago.
