Zero vs Rem wc's
I just got home from another range session at the indoor 50 ft range. This session went the same as the first with Zero 148 gr wc's just slightly edging out then Rem 148 wc's. Hornady 148 gr wc's placed 3rd slightly behind the other two. The shooting was done with a S&W model 19 with 4" barrel. The rounds were all loaded with 2.7 of WST powder. Would it make much difference to try upping or lowering the powder charge ?
Right now with the weather I cannot get to the outdoor 25 and 50 yd ranges to shoot those distances. Should I expect the results to be the same at the longer ranges ?

Re: Zero vs Rem wc's
While 50ft might give you an idea how they will perform I've seen bullets group well at 25yds only to become unstable somewhere between 25 & 50yds.
IMHO I wouldn't make any assumptions yet based on your 50ft results.

Greetings,
Good news with Remington. The last case I bought has a clear semi-sticky lube. Loads much cleaner than the previous black lube.
They shoot okay at 50 yards, as well. Only one flier!!!

Re: Zero vs Rem wc's
Greetings,
Two answers...
One, the ammo was fired from a barrel tester. I took a take-off K38 barrel and turned it round to fit my tester. The chamber is a SAAMI 38 WadCutter. I have tested good lots of ammo in the barrel tester, revolvers, and auto-loading pistols with similar results. I like the barrel tester as it has no moving parts and easy to set-up.
I chose the K-38 as it had the inaccurate 1:18.75 twist and a 0.357" groove diameter. I have had better groups using Kart, Colt Gold Cup barrels, or Custom machined 10, 12, and 14 twist barrels.
Two, I have only fired 50 rounds in my Model 52 and could not detect any appreciable Lead fouling. I still have three cases of the black beauties to use up. I do plan to buy another case when MidwayUSA offers them hoping for the clear lube.
Regarding the clear lube, it may allow me to modify my loading procedure to improve overall accuracy. Stay tuned for future test results.
Cheers,
Dave

Remington .38 (.360)148grain HBWC
A couple of weeks ago I received a shipment of 2,000 of these bullets from Midway. Although they were listed as "out of stock," it also stated "back order o.k." so I placed a back order for 2,000 and provided a CC for payment. Billing to your cc will not occur until shipped, but this guarantees you will be on a priority list to receive them when Midway's next shipment arrives. This method not only works, but it is far superior to the option of, "notify me when available." Midway sends you an email when the bullets are shipped. As many have experienced, high demand products can be gone in a matter of minutes following receipt of the "notify me" Midway email. Midway lists the anticipated arrival of the next shipment from Remington as 02-02-2018.
I received my shipment approximately two weeks before the expected arrival date listed by Midway. The price is $149.99/2k. Also, this latest shipment did not have the gooky lube and appears clean.

I do just that, it was poor attempt at some light humor. It wont happen again, I promise.

Re: Zero vs Rem wc's
Greetings,
I would like to see some test targets fired at 50 yards using the RP-HBWC bullets that have been washed and lubed with 45-45-10.
The "Black Beauties" I have seem to shoot quite well out of the box.
Cheers,
Dave
