1911 triggers
Does a 1911’s trigger need the magazine to be in the well to work properly? Mine feels awful when I dry fire it with the magazine out, but when I live fire the pistol it seems to have a fairly nice release. Is it really different or is the recoil maybe fooling me into thinking it is smooth. The groups are consistent and round shaped.

If anything the magazine adds a potential surface for it to rub on. Try dry firing with and without the magazine in the pistol.

Re: 1911 triggers
I was wondering if that rubbing and support the magazine box puts on the trigger bow is what makes it feel crisper. I have always dry fired with empty magazine wells as an additional safety precaution; I’ll give it a go with one installed to see how it reacts. Thanks for the suggestion! I wonder if the weight of the trigger would be different with the magazine in or out?
