How to find matches?
Hi Folks,
Can you direct me to a source of match information that will help me find Precision Pistol matches in Virginia? I've searched, and the only listing I can find is NRA Shooting Sports USA, and they only list Fairfax Rod and Gun Club. I know this is incomplete, as Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club in Montpelier, VA has monthly matches, including an EIC match in July. So, I'm at a loss to locate a schedule of pistol matches. Thanks in advance.

Good luck! I'm convinced that one of the reasons Precision Pistol is stagnant, or maybe even in decline, is because new shooters can not find matches. With the World Wide Web being at the level it is today, one would think a search of something like "Precision Pistol Matches in Virginia" would quickly tell you everything you could want. But if the results are anything like "Precision Pistol Matches in Illinois" you won't find much. Word of mouth is still the best way to find anything. Back 20+ years ago when I tried Bullseye for a few years, I got fliers in the mail (USPS) at least 2-3 times a month, some from clubs I never had been to, they got my name and address shared from other clubs I guess. When I packed away the target pistols, I still got fliers for a year. Now that I'm back into the sport, I struggled to find matches. But I'm starting to find the clubs that hold matches, I'm learning.

Re: How to find matches?
I have a variety of clubs listed at:
Places that host Bullseye Shooting
If you are close enough to Maryland, check out Twelfth Precinct and Anne Arundel. They host a lot of league activities and matches. NRA HQ has a league. I think it is on Mondays.
Mid-Atlantic Region Conventional Pistol Matches
normally has a pretty good set of matches for the year. This year seems a bit behind, but the 2017 schedule can give you a good indication of 2018's events and most of the contacts are probably still active.
