Jacketed or Plated Lead Bullets
Now that I'm back in the game, I've noticed some indoor ranges prohibiting exposed lead bullets... at least my .38WC ammo was turned down at a local range. Apparently new lead poison mitigation systems at some indoor ranges rely partly on jacketed ammo being used. I sense this could be a trend and would like to know if jacketed or plated lead bullets are becoming more popular with reloading .45 and .38 match ammo.

Check out Xtreme 185G plated flat nose. They are simple to load, and fire off with good accuracy.

Are you shooting an auto loader 38 WC like a S&W 52?

What I listed was for 45, ACME bullet co. also makes popular wad cutter sizes that are powder coated, these do well indoors too.
I shoot a 52-2 and a 38 spcl revolver indoors but I have no lead restrictions so I use 148HBWc and 158 SWC and round nose.

Yes, Wobbley, I shoot a 52. I should have been more precise with my question, as we all know how finicky a 52 is its diet.

There are plated WC bullets but they have wild ones in there. The 52 functions ok but I’ve seen 8s on a 25 T&R target that I didn’t call. Perhaps powder coated will be ok, but whether plated or powder coated, I’d clean first before using lead HBWC again.
