Noslers have groves now?

Opened up a new 1000 cnt box of Noslers.  Old stuff has no groves in the hollowpoint head.  New stuff does.  I don't like change.

the old zeros had grooves didn't they?

We bought some of their seconds/overruns from shooters pro shop recently and they had them.  Didn't think they were the normal 185s but something from a one off run...

Were yours from nosler or shooters pro shop

IIRC, as far as I've ever seen, the Noslers have always had four small notches in the rim with a small fading trail from each.  The Zeroes never have had any.

I don't know if this is the new norm or that these were one offs.. I've gotten some excellent bullets from Shooters Pro shop before that had oddities such as
Accubonds or BTs with different colored tips..


maybe the same cuts as old but simply heavier

I opened a box of 1000 and called Nosler when I saw the groves.  They told me that's normal now and there shouldn't be any differences in ballistics. The batch I was using before the new box was about 3 years old.   I'm planning on doing some testing to see.

Don’t forget the market for these bullets is the defensive ammo market. So they make them to expand at a set velocity. They usually adjust these cuts so they will expand. Perhaps Nosler dropped the velocity they wanted expansion?

honestly never thought of them as a very good defensive round  due to the small cavity and almost no cuts... nowhere close to a Federal HST.
