NRA Rule-Switching Pistols During a 900 Centerfire
I read the NRA precision pistol rules and I'm of the impression that I can use my 45 for the first two center fire slow fire targets and then use my 32 S&W Long for rest of the 900 match. I'm looking for validation of this.
I prefer my 22 and 32 (Benelli MP 90s) to a 1911 but I need to use the 1911 for the CF long line slow fire as much as possible until I isolate the source of the occasional long line flyer from the 32. Doing that may require as much dedication as climbing the latter get my master classification!
I'm load testing this summer with my fast twist barrel from Dave Wilson but I'm really trying to allocate time on skill development with the 45 rather than trips to the range for load testing.
Thanks,
Craig B

Yes, you can do that. Centerfire Slow Fire (the first two targets) and Centerfire National Match Course (targets 3, 4 and 5) are two separate matches, so you don't have to use the same pistol for both.
Is it a good idea? Well... I think that most here would say that you should just focus on learning to shoot the .45 until you're confident that your .32 will group well on the long line. But I can understand the appeal of using the Benelli for CF sustained fire.

Hi Craig, - Maybe in a new Topic - Would you please tell us about your experience with the Benelli 22? - How long have you had it? -Is it a newer model? - reliability?-accuracy? - - I'm considering a different 22. -- -Thanks in advance, Russ

As stated before, yes, you can do that. I would recommend letting the match director know why you are changing pistols, so he does not think you are declaring a disabled pistol, since you would be using your 1911 for the .45 matches later in the day, if it is a 2700.CraigB5940 wrote:I read the NRA precision pistol rules and I'm of the impression that I can use my 45 for the first two center fire slow fire targets and then use my 32 S&W Long for rest of the 900 match. Thanks
I appreciate the feedback, I will mention my plans to the match director.
Regarding the question from Russ, my Beneill MP 90 in 22 is 19 years old. It shoots CCI SV, SK Jagd Std and Wolf MT just fine. I think in the last year for about 5K rounds I had three total alibis in practice and matches combined.
The accuracy is totally adequate for the long line it holds the X ring. You can find reviews here and at rimfire central.com
I have not shot a Pardini or Walter OSP or GSP or Hamarelli so I can't compare the trigger to them, other reviews say they all have a better trigger but the Benelli is not really bad when I compare it to my Morini 162 EI or my FWB 600 (rifle) or Anschutz 1411 (rifle)
