Schuemann AET barrels
Anyone familiar with schuemanns AET barrels? How do they compare with kart and KKM? Also, is kart or KKM more accurate for 9mm in a 1911?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Jerry Keefer didn’t like them and neither do I. MCP used to use them. There are a bunch of them in the trash.

Boy is that an understatement! Complete garbage in my opinion.Jon Eulette wrote:Jerry Keefer didn’t like them and neither do I. MCP used to use them. There are a bunch of them in the trash.

What was wrong with them? Not enough metal to properly fit? Poor tolerances? Rough or improperly cut rifling?

Re: Schuemann AET barrels
Concept for our game. Gain twist rifling doesn't work with our "slow" projectiles.
The Gain Twist worked well for me
Shot a .45 MCP for a number of years with a gain twist. It was very accurate holding X ring at 50 yards. Never had a problem with it shooting 185 grain lead or JHP. Schumann documentation said that it would only stabilize a 185 grain bullet and having tried a few non 185 would agree.

I have one in .38 Super and it will shoot 1.5" or less at 50 yds w/115 JHP Zero's and 4.6gr WST. I honestly don't think you "gain" anything for the added cost.

Re: Schuemann AET barrels
I had an AET barrel that was very good when using jacketed bullets at pretty high velocities (it was a 10mm Auto.) In that application that has almost nothing in common with BE but "is a gun" it was good.
I've always heard they do not play well with non-jacketed bullets even from the biggest fanboys of the product. I'm not surprised they turned out to be duds in BE. Based on what little I know, pushing a slow lead SWC out of one seems like it would work about as well as throwing rocks.

You will not get Schuemann on the phone anyways. I heard he went through a bad divorce and does not answer the phone. I have been tring to get bull barrels for 2 years now out of him. Always admired his work.
