S&W Performance Center Model 686 Empty S&W Performance Center Model 686

It appears that the rules prohibit S&W Performance Center revolvers because they have an external trigger over-travel stop screw.  Is this interpretation correct?

NRA Precision Pistol Rules, revised May 2018
3.3 Distinguished Revolver
No parts may be removed from the revolver, either externally or internally,

3.3f
The following are not allowed … any external trigger stop device.

Two follow-up questions:

3.3a
Any trigger, sold by the manufacturer of the revolver, without modification, may be used.
1.  If I substitute a standard trigger, would the PC Model 686 be legal?

2.  I don't actually like the PC Model 686.  What I want is the orange plastic front sight blade.  I have one on another revolver, and I can see it much better than any other front sight blade I've tried.  The rules don't explicitly prohibit changing the front sight blade, except the for the provision of "no external modifications."  Would it be worthwhile to ask NRA for a ruling, or does anybody know already that it will be denied?
