9mm Chrono Results for CFE, Titegroup & BE-86
I loaded the ammo for this evaluation in January and fired them this week. The components are: Winchester range brass Lee U-die sized, CCI SPP 500, RCBS Uniflow dispensing, Hornady 115 HAP, 1.120 COL, Lee FCD, no crimp. 3 weight charges of each powder, 10 rounds each.
The rounds were fired from a basically stock RO9, except for a custom EGW bushing, an 11 lb. Wollf recoil spring, Burris FF3 and 3lb. trigger. Hyskore benchrest.
Targets for each 10 rounds at 25 yds. Measurement was on a Prochrono Pal 5 feet muzzle to center. Wind at 3:00 0 to 5, 80 degrees, partly cloudy.
The highest charges are 0.2 grn below published data.

I have a few differences in my loads but my results for CFE & Titegroup are very similar to yours within 10 fps of everything listed. I havent tested BE-86 yet.

Thanks. Good to hear my results are supported by someone else's data. I reviewed some data from my 986 from last summer and they are within 10 fps also.

Where is the 25 or 50 yard accuracy data?
When you write "The highest charges are 0.2 grn below published data," do you mean 0.2gn below the manual's max load?

Only 10 rounds from a mostly stock RO9 off a manual rest would not quantify accuracy very well. Qualitatively, 5.4 CFE had the tightest group with 8 of 10 rounds yielding 1 1/8" at 25 yds. Close behind were 5.1 CFE, 4.0 TG and 4.3 TG. The heaviest loads were fairly scattered. BE-86 is also fairly scattered. I did not evaluate 50 yds. because my best RO groups only hold 3" at 50. I'm using a 3 moa FF3 and that may also have an impact on accuracy due to my vision. Looking back, I should have used my S&W 986 with a 2X scope which has yielded 1 3/4" at 50 on my good days and 3/4" at 25. I chose the 1911 because that is what most of the forum populace shoots, albeit accurized versions, and, my main objective was to develop an approximate velocity curve.noylj wrote:Where is the 25 or 50 yard accuracy data?

Yes, the maximum of 4.8 TG comes from the Speer manual. 5.9 CFE and 6.3 BE-86 are from online data published by Hodgdon and Alliant respectively.

My testing was done from a Ransom Rest @ 25 yards, 10 rounds per shot group - 4 groups. My best results with the CFE was the lower end charge of 5.0g. Shot groups ranged from 0.9" - 1.1" for an average of 1".

5.4 CFEPistol is my 115 Combat training load. It seems accurate.
