Gun box magnet Empty Gun box magnet

Post by LenV 7/27/2018, 2:26 pm

I know a couple of weeks ago someone on here was looking for a gun box magnet. I can't find the original post so just thought I would throw in a little info here. First of all Champions Choice has them in stock. Second they don't work very good on TnB strong cases. They are so thin that if your magazine has a large base pad only a little bit of the magazine makes contact. Which means they will fall off easy. On some cases there is not enough flat area to mount the magnet and have enough clearance to use properly. I solved both of those tiny annoyances by mounting the magnet to a strip of 1/2" plywood them mounting the wood to the lid. This gives you clearance above and below and magazines will stay in place. Ok, said my piece. The important part I suppose is that they are in stock.

Len,

Even without the baseplates the mags need to go at an angle.

I use a knife magnet bar.  It's got a rubberized exterior.  It's really strong.  I don't even have it bolted to the door; I just put the steel backing plate on the outside and it sticks to it through box's aluminum door.
