trigger finger part of hold?
I'm just beginning to learn this sport so please excuse what may be a really stupid question. I read somewhere on the web that having ones finger on the trigger contributes to the grip/hold. While practicing my stance and hold (unloaded gun) I tried taking up the slack in the trigger and holding slight pressure on it while trying to keep the red dot from moving too much. This seems to help stabilize my hold somewhat. Is this a legitimate use of the trigger finger or a dangerous habit that should be avoided?
Thanks,
Kim

Try to keep the trigger finger separate and independent of the gripping fingers. When you use trigger finger for stability you end up sighting in the pistol for the jerk behind the gun;p)

It’s ok to rest finger on the trigger, but just learn to not use it as part of gripping pressure. My finger is on the trigger 99% of the time but not helping me grip or sight the pistol. So if I misunderstood you sorry about that.

I think I understand, Jon. Do you take up the slack while your finger is on the trigger?

That’s the only way lol.
I have finger on the trigger on the bench. I lift and take up slack just before lowering pistol into the target. Once I start squeezing it never stops moving!
