Caliber, and what is desired distance to the target? Also, is it for hunting, target work, or else? Budget?

Re: Rifle question on the pistol forum
He is looking for a specific model Leupold as stated in my first post. I did not ask his intentions...sorry.
I can find out some specifics Tuesday.

Re: Rifle question on the pistol forum
Ron,
I don't know any of the models with parameters you mentioned in Leupold VX2 line. For that matter most scopes I know are rather 6.5-20 x 50, and there is none in VX2 family, TMBK. The closest I can think would be VX-3i family, and these are a phenomenal scopes for money. I personally have two of the Leupold VX-3i LRP 6.5-20x50 FFP. If this is what your son is after, he would not make a mistake, IMO. Rest would be a personal preference, i.e. reticle, focus plane, etc.
Sorry, I could not be a better help.

Re: Rifle question on the pistol forum
For 300 yards 3-9x is pretty sufficient. New Leupold line VX-Freedom probably is all he needs.

Alternatively, he can look into Vortex PST family, for a little bit more $ - Vortex is currently heavily discounting some of the Gen I models with SFP focus. Advantage is 30mm tube on latter versus 1" on former, so better light gathering, and higher magnification.

I would watch both Amazon and Ebay closely. Those sellers play all kinds of games with their pricing. If you are on the site at the right time, you can get some really good deals.

+1, same with Optics Planet. I got a smoking deal on 2 Aimpoints earlier this year, when I realized just how good it was I bought 2 more. Deal was over right after my 2nd order. Yes I tried to place a 3rd order, it was that good.PMcfall wrote:I would watch both Amazon and Ebay closely. Those sellers play all kinds of games with their pricing. Check Swfa's sample list. They have a vx3i 3.5 x 10x50 for 369
I've had great luck with their sample list and this one is classed as an A demo so it will be like new.
10x is plenty for 300yds

Re: Rifle question on the pistol forum
if he is looking for used, ebay is about the best place to look,
unless he want to walk thru a bunch of Gunshows (not that there is any thing wrong with that)
