LPA Base with Picatinny Top
Hello Members
I've been searching for a base that has a Picatinny top that fits the LPA cut in my Springfield slide.
No luck what so ever. I know that I can have the slide drilled and tapped for a base but I'd like to hold off on that.
Other than a custom made base any ideas?
Regards, Walt

Re: LPA Base with Picatinny Top
That would be quite a load on the rail during recoil. The only support would be the dovetail.

Re: LPA Base with Picatinny Top
I've ordered a EGW base for a Vortex Venom which will be installed in the LPA cut.
But I'd like a base with a Picatinny top so I can install a Aimpoint red dot.
So what's the difference?

Re: LPA Base with Picatinny Top
My guess is that a full tube dot would be too much for the dovetail. Either in the slide or the mount itself. The “Gs” applied to a scope multiply the weight a bunch. While the scopes can handle it, the mounting can’t.

Check this link: http://www.bme-mounts.com/
You also can ping John and ask for specific mount you want to make.

Re: LPA Base with Picatinny Top
Thank you all for the replies. I think that after the Vortex Venom experiment if I do go to a Aimpoint I will just go to a drilled and tapped Picatinny base.

I'm not 100% sure, but this might be what you were originally asking for (in case anyone else is looking for the same thing)...

I think the CZ75 has an LPA dovetail.

Re: LPA Base with Picatinny Top
Thank very much Dave. I did check that out. But I think it won't fit because the dovetail cut in the Springfield slide is much lower and the front of the this base would hit the slide. I could try it but I'd have to cut off the front of the base leaving it very short.
