Yes, Hard to resist the price. Mine feed well, but are short in length. No real way to extend them without gluing an extension to the bottom.JIMPGOV wrote:HAS ANYONE TRIED THESE POLY 208 MAGS? JP

They need some sanding to fit smoothly. If you are using slab grips, it is no problem, but with ergo grips, you have to reach in there and pull it out. Not a big deal, especially for the price.

Re: POLY HAMMERLI 208 MAGS ??
I purchased 3 of them from Krales about a year ago. Thought I really hit a home run. They work.
But not like a tuned steel Hammerli mag. I have not modified these in any way. At some point I will epoxy an extension to the base so they are easier to remove. The current mag base config is rather short.

Re: POLY HAMMERLI 208 MAGS ??
Hi, I am going to jump in on this thread since I was considering trying my xesse mags in my 208s. I was inspired by Ed Hall's posting of modifying Model 41 mags for the 208s.
In the first picture you will see the 208s mag on the left and the xesse on the right.
In the second picture the xesse is on the left.
In the third picture the xesse is on the left.
The magazine pictured in this thread looks to me like an xesse magazine with a cut in the base for the magazine catch of the 208s to grip.
I have found the xesse magazine and the steel 208s magazine to be dimensionally very similar and you can see in the photos This posting inspires me to cut a notch in my xesse magazine and try them in my 208s.
Thank you for posting your photos.
David
Xesse magazines are inexpensive and easily found online.

I bought two of them, and both had to be sanded to fit in the mag well. Also, the trigger pull inexplicably changed before I took another 0.008 off the top rear of each magazine. Yes, they require a little effort to extract, but not overwhelming.

Where did you take the 8 thou off? Both lips from rear to middle or the rear area that bridges the lips?

Re: POLY HAMMERLI 208 MAGS ??
Removed 8 thou from the rear of the mag, for about an inch down from the lips. The rear wall of the mag is pretty thin there.
Before removing that material, I felt a squishy trigger. Still can't figure out what was causing it, but removing that material gave back the Hammerli trigger that I have got to love!
Let me know if you, or others, care to share an explanation.

If you look into that area of the magazine well, with the grips off, I believe you will see the sear spring (bright and shiny silver) sits right where you describe. I think this was discussed in another thread about these mags...jwax wrote:Removed 8 thou from the rear of the mag, for about an inch down from the lips. Hi Ed,
You and I talked about this a bit a Long Lake. I searched for x-esse magazines but don't find anything about it contacting the sear at the rear of the magazine and I can't easily get to my 208s now to check.
Do you remember any details of this thread that might help us search?

Re: POLY HAMMERLI 208 MAGS ??
Thanks, the other thread makes perfect sense. These x-esse mags are still available from Champions Choice.
My 208s and I are not getting along real well these days, I have five magazines for it (steel) but when I get back to shooting it, I think it would be fun to try out my x-esse mags or if I feel ambitious, modify some S&W 41 mags.

I have a few new ones I haven't diddled with if you want to try. Charge you what I paid. I think I have a 41 mag, too, brand new.
