38 spl. target master
I just received a bunch of ammo and components from my brother-in-law who shot in the Navy many years ago. There in a ammo can with 1200 rds of 148 gr. Remington TargetMaster Match grade wadcutters Marked Lot RA 5221 It was stored in a bedroom so I doubt any issues there.
My Question--- Is there any value from a collectors view? Next question--- I do not have a match wadcutter gun, so would these be of value to a bullseye shooter? Thanks in advance Jim

I am assuming they are loaded ammo, if so it the newer Remington of the same type shoots well in my revolver so I would think they would be worth at least 20 bucks per 50. I doubt they have collector value but others with more knowledge will soon fill us in.

Let me be the first to say, that it is really bad stuff and you should sent it to me and I will dispose of it for you. My Clark Heavy Slide really loves it and I will take a chance on it. LOL
No collector value, by the way.

20 bucks per fifty seems a bit steep for a recommendation. But, that's just me.

I’ll take all I can get at $20.00 per box. It doesn’t have any collector value because they made tons of it. This was in the day of the 38 Special revolvers dominating PPC.

Re: 38 spl. target master
OK, all of you 38 wadcutter gurus. I've been wistfully looking at a couple of S&W 52s (52-1 & 52-2) up for sale. The problem is that the 52s only work well with flush-mounted 148 gr. wadcutter ammo and I only have 6 boxes of Winchester match ammo left. I load 148 gr. WC ammo for my revolvers but have no experience loading bullets flush with the case rim. Is anyone out there loading wadcutters for the semiauto pistols? Your insight would be appreciated. I'm hoping that there's a relatively easy answer on how to do it.

Re: 38 spl. target master
I and several folks I know load ammo for their model 52's. I use a Dillon 550 and I know of at least 2 other loader brands being used so there is no reason you could not load for your gun. When I first started building a load I was a little outside the case and they would not feed so getting them right down to the case lip is critical. Now i have no issues and am in fact in the middle of a 1000 round batch that I am loading.OldShooter43 wrote:OK, all of you 38 wadcutter gurus. Had a Model 52-1 and loaded all mine on a dillon 550. Neat thing about a 550 you can use it as a single stage to adj. seating depth etc. Get your specs down from here, online or out of a manual. For me ----- I always shot my 52 wet (lot of oil) No Issues.
good luck

+1 52's often run on the fine line just this side of a malfunction so keeping them wet seems to work.jim lock wrote:--- I always shot my 52 wet (lot of oil) No Issues.

2.7 - 2.8 Bullseye or WST
2.8 - 2.9 Red Dot
Or what’s in here under Target loads.
