Let's talk about Ultradots...
Has anyone successfully eliminated the negative magnification in some Ultradot's be either doing something to it yourself, or sending it back to Ultradot and having them successfully eliminate it?
The one in question was purchased used, and it didn't bother me until I got another one that doesn't have the issue.
I'm assuming that the warranty only applies to the original purchaser with a receipt.
Thanks!

Interesting question. I rather doubt they'd fix it. If they did they'd sure be getting a bunch of them in for repair. Yes, they require a purchase receipt and $12 S&H. Otherwise it $25 plus the s&h charge.
I have several UD's and all have some negitive magnification. I don't let it get in my head. If you like a 30mm sight, try the Sightron S-30. I've had one on my 45 for going on two years with no problems and no negative magnification. They seem to be a well kept secret. Apparently not many shooters using them.

Re: Let's talk about Ultradots...
I was looking at Sightron sights last night as well as every other manufacturer I could find and was curious about them. I don't really want to go for an Aimpoint H-1 right now, but it is a consideration.
I have a 30mm Ultradot on a revolver and it seems fine, as well as another 25mm that I just picked up. That is why the one in question suddenly seemed so noticeable. I'll bet it is near 20% reduction...
I tried calling Ultradot this morning and nobody answers the phone so far.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Re: Let's talk about Ultradots...
I have had several UDs in the past all with negative magnification and parallax issues. Sent one back and was told it was in spec. I now have 2 Aim Points. Better than UDs, still have parallax issues but no negative magnification issues. Sure would be nice to have a dot at a reasonable price point with no issues... it seems like to much to ask for....

Sightron S-30. No issues so far. Several thousand rounds on a slide mounted 45.

Re: Let's talk about Ultradots...
I'm not so sure that I would particularly like the 5 MOA dot on the Sightron S-30, but I may give one a try. Or am I not looking at the correct one?
I'd rather go to a 2 MOA from the 4 MOA Ultradot if I had to change.
I have one older 1" Ultradot with zero "minification" and it's perfect, so there is at least one out there...
Thanks!

Re: Let's talk about Ultradots...
I know that their ads say 5 min dot. Actually their dot is 2 MOA. I have several 4 minute UDs and the Sightron's dot is about half that size. Others who have used them can also confirm this. I have no idea why they call it 5 MOA.I think this is one reason BE shooters won't look at one.

The Oakshore Ultradots have no reduction. If you find one for sale I wouldn't hesitate. I also agree that the Sightron dot is smaller then 5 moa.

I have seen shooters use the AimPoint SC9000. Seems nice. Anyone use one that would like to provide a short review?

Re: Let's talk about Ultradots...
The aimpoint 9000sc is a typical aimpoint product. Outstanding optics and operation. I use their 4 moa dot version but i believe they no longer make a 4 moa. I have them mounted on my trailside and Marvel 22s.
The only potential downside is their weight. Heavier than the match dot II. Currently working on lightening up a wad cutter slide to make this a non issue.
It would be perfect if it was a touch shorter and around 6.5 oz.
IMHO

The sightron s30 is a very good dot ..had one for two years without issue. The dot is a 2 moa by my old eyes.

I like the cat.
I had one just like that for 20 years. Best cat I ever had.
