Dan Wesson slide dovetails
I've got 5 DW 1911's and am wanting to put other sights on some of the guns. I'm under the impression that DW uses a Novak dovetail on their slides. However, I visited the Novak site and they have DW on their list of unapproved users of their design. Has anyone replaced the rear and/or front sights on DW guns and had any issues with sights or RMR mounting plates fitting properly? I've emailed DW but haven't had a response yet.

You can call DW. Some used Novak and some used Bomar cut.
The folks at Brownells will know if you call them also. The first two digits of the serial number are the year of mfg.

You'll have to use a "knock off" Novak sight if you replace the ones on your DW. Kensight should be a direct replacement fit.
Thanks for the info
Look like I'll have to do a little more digging to end up with the correct sights. David, appreciate the info on the DW serial numbers. Kc thanks for pointing me to Kensight, got them bookmarked now.
