Mascot III Rib Sight?
Hello All:
Just looking for some info.
I have what I believe is a Mascot III Rib Sight made by the late Travis Strahan out of GA.
I believe it's the Mascot III because of the cut out that lines up with the ejection port on a 1911 slide.
What's stymieing me is 1) the ejection port cut out seems unfinished, as though the top portion has not been removed. Almost looks like a Mascot I that had the side plate milled out?
2) It is pretty much impossible to find info on the Mascot III on line at least as of my latest efforts.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
This sight appears to have never been used by the way.
Thanks in advance!
Mike

Re: Mascot III Rib Sight?
If it were me and I planned on using that, I would mount it and ensure that I was using a slide with a lowered ejection port. I would tune the ejection to clear the port and if I had any problems I could always open the ejection port portion of the rail slightly. If I’m not mistaken because of the design that has to operate as one piece so you would want to remove a very minimal amount. If at all!

Thanks for the quick response, Jon!
I was thinking that this rib sight may have been intended for a custom or customized slide as you suggest. Clearance appears extremely tight especially when compared to a Bomar or the Aristocrat. (There's an image at Brownells I can't yet link to).
Just trying to get educated about this particular piece.
If anyone is interested in it, I'd also consider letting it go for a reasonable price. Problem is, I have no idea what that would be!
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Mascot III Rib Sight?
Rare sight rib! It’s most likely a PPC rib because of the wings on the front portion of the rib. It has a unique hole spacing for mounting and would require drilling and tapping of the slide. Pricing will be buyer dependent as to it’s really a collectors rib due to the design. Just my opinion.
