Sorry for off topic...
Got these off an old Remington 722 a long time ago..  No rings.  They are like Weaver but are flat top.
Any idea what brand?

They look like an oversize .22 dovetail.

I think I read somewhere that really early Weaver mounts were a dovetail. But I've found nothing online to confirm it.

The only reference I've found for the '8A', is for a side mount for a pump or lever gun. No help, obviously.

721 I have from an old family friend, probably bought in the 50's, has a 40A, and 36 base on it. May have those numbers messed up after walking back upstairs. Hey, I'm pushing 60 ;-)

The front base is marked 5A, rear 6A.
They are the same size as the more familiar Weaver front 35 & rear 36.  But the top is flat.

Pushing 60?  Punk kid  Smile

LOL.

Would love to buy you a beer, but my next road trip is south EAST to Austin, not 'up the road' to Oregon ...

My 'Old Man' is heading for 90 in Sept. Amazes me how he remembers stuff from 70 years ago, Army days in the motor pool in Alaska. Driving a truck off a mountain in the snow in Alaska with no brakes ... Officer in the right seat ...

'I don't have any brakes Sir' ... "Then why are you driving this truck?' 'I had orders Sir' ...

Reminds me of a Vietnam story from a dear friend.
They were tugging a Chinook around testing the steering for the tailwheel.  The 2Lt came out asked what they were doing.  Grunt driving the tug says 'the batterys dead sir.  We are trying to pull start it.'

Man, you're a late nighter...

A 'Shxthook', as a friend who spent time in VN referred to it. Told me stories about cutting left/right exiting the ramp to avoid the turbine exhaust. Better was 'accidentally' losing mortar rds out of a Huey 'cuz they got tired of carrying them.
